MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110626 A) filed by Tamil Nadu Veterinary And Animal Sciences University on September 15, 2026, for A Depth-Calibrated Intracranial Injection Apparatus With An Integrated Animal Retainer.

Inventors include Dr. Raja Paramasivam; Dr. Manoharan Parthiban; Dr. Vinitha Vivekanandan; and Mr. Dhananchezhiyan Sekar.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a compact depth-calibrated intracranial injection apparatus for controlled administration of biological, pharmaceutical, therapeutic, diagnostic, genetic, cellular, or infectious materials into laboratory animals, particularly mice. The apparatus comprises a rigid base platform, an adjustable animal retainer for stabilizing the animal while providing cranial access, an injector assembly configured to removably support a precision syringe, a needle guidance mechanism, a height-adjustment mechanism, and an adjustable mechanical depth limiter configured to prevent needle penetration beyond a predetermined intracranial depth. The injector assembly further enables controlled delivery of a selected volume through a manual, digital, or motorized syringe. A transparent enclosure may surround the operative components to provide a protected injection workspace. The integrated arrangement improves needle alignment, depth control, dosage consistency, animal stabilization, procedural reproducibility, and operational efficiency while reducing unintended over-penetration, tissue injury, and operator- dependent variation during intracranial administration.
