Abstract: The present invention relates to a dental appliance, a system, and a method for designing the dental appliance using patient-specific anatomical and or clinical data. The invention provides a digitally designed dental appliance configured to receive maxillary and mandibular oral tissues and dentitions and to support at least one of a mandibular position, a maxillary position, and an inter-arch occlusal relationship. The digital design defines guiding surfaces configured to guide positioning of oral dentition toward a desired position and relief surfaces configured to allow natural development of teeth and dental arches. The invention further supports sequential treatment stages based on updated anatomical data and may incorporate myofunctional features and airway openings. A computer-based workflow enables generation of a digital design for subsequent manufacture, allowing individualized, adaptable, and reproducible oral and dentofacial therapeutic treatment.
