Inventors include Suhada C; Muhammad Shahaz Shameer; Nandana P V; Nayan K V; and Alan Boby.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is a deep learning-based eye directive wheelchair system (100), the system (100) comprises a wheelchair frame (102) integrated with a drive mechanism including motors configured to facilitate directional movement. The system also includes an image acquisition unit (104) comprising a camera mounted on the wheelchair. The system also includes a processing unit (106) configured to execute a trained deep learning model based on a YOLO architecture for real-time detection and classification of eye gestures from the captured video frames. The system also includes a control unit (108) configured to receive gesture-based command signals corresponding to the detected eye gestures within a predefined latency interval. The system also includes a motor driver interface module (110) configured to generate pulse width modulation (PWM) signals for controlling speed and direction of the motors based on the received gesture-based command signals.
