Abstract: ABSTRACT A DEEP EUTECTIC SOLVENT FOR RECOVERING METALS FROM SPENT LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES AND A METHOD THEREOF Deep eutectic solvent for recovering metals from spent lithium-ion batteries and a method thereof are disclosed. In some embodiments, the deep eutectic solvent for recovering metals from spent lithium-ion batteries, comprising ethylammonium chloride (EAC) and malonic acid (MA), wherein said deep eutectic solvent is obtained by a process comprising drying ethylammonium chloride (EAC) and malonic acid (MA) to remove moisture; mixing the dried EAC and MA; and heating and stirring the mixture at a temperature in the range of 60–80 °C, at a stirring speed in the range of 400–600 rpm, for a duration in the range of 1–6 hours until a clear, homogeneous and transparent deep eutectic solvent is obtained.
