MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541028890 A) filed by Saint-Gobain Glass France on March 27, 2025, for A Decorative Article Having Visually Distinct Etched And Non-Etched Portions.

Abstract: The present invention proposes the concept of a non-dissolvable, chemically treated coating to achieve visually observable distinct patterns or writings or designs or decorations. Such distinctiveness is provided by modification of the functional coating properties during thermal processing resulting in a new chemistry in some portions of the underlying coating. The other portions may be uncoated, retaining the original properties of the underlying coating. The present application also provides a method for making decorative glass articles having a distinct etched portions and non-etched portions.
