MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621110938 A) filed by Ganesh Iyer; Kumar Abhishek; Gurusharan Dumra; and Tarun Rijwani on September 16, 2026, for A Customised Transtibial Prosthetic System With Articulated Ankle And Compliant Forefoot.

Inventors include Tarun Rijwani; Kumar Abhishek; Gurusharan Dumra; and Ganesh Iyer.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a prosthetic foot assembly (100) having an articulated ankle assembly (102) and a compliant forefoot for movement during ambulation. The assembly comprises a prosthetic interface, customised conformal socket (101), pylon (103), articulated ankle assembly (102), compliant element (105), motion limiting feature and compliant forefoot region. The articulated ankle assembly (102) permits controlled plantarflexion and dorsiflexion, while the compliant element (105) undergoes resilient deformation for impact attenuation and energy storage and return. The motion limiting feature restricts excessive ankle movement within a functional range. The compliant forefoot region provides controlled flexion corresponding to metatarsophalangeal movement, thereby facilitating forefoot rollover and push-off. The prosthetic foot (104) may comprise rigid and compliant regions and may be digitally customized by modifying additive manufacturing parameters to provide user specific stiffness characteristics.
