Abstract: Rapid urbanization and industry have seriously polluted water, one of the most essential natural resources for life. The ecology and human health are seriously endangered by synthetic wastewater that contains fluoride and other dangerous materials. Fluoride causes major health problems such dental fluorosis, skeletal fluorosis, joint stiffness, and possible neurological and organ-related disorders when it is present over the allowable level of 1.5 mg/L. Conventional methods of treating wastewater often result in secondary contamination and are costly. This study examines rice husk, a plentiful agricultural by-product, as a low-cost, eco-friendly adsorbent for wastewater remediation of contaminated fluoride water. In this study, Pristine Rice Husk Biochar (PRHBC) was chosen because it is an inexpensive and effective adsorbent for the removal of fluoride from synthetic wastewater. The PRHBC was created via pyrolysis at 400 oC. FESEM study of the synthesized PRHBC demonstrates significant porosity to adsorb fluoride. The elimination of fluoride reaction is optimized at 1000 mg of PRHBC, contact time of 120 minutes, 4 mg/L of fluoride concentration, at 5 pH and a removal efficiency of 97.1%.
