Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a controller (200) for a multilevel voltage source inverter. The controller (200) includes an input interface (204) to receive a reference voltage (206) and a Direct Current (DC) bus voltage (208), a mode determination circuit (210) to determine an operating mode, a reference generation circuit (212) to generate reference signal, a pulse width modulation (PWM) generation circuit (214) to generate a PWM signal during a switching period and a switching control circuit (216) to generate gate signals for semiconductor switches (SW1-SW8). The controller (200) determines the operating mode from the received reference voltage (206) relative to the DC bus voltage (208), generates the reference signal and the PWM signal during the switching period and generates the gate signals to control switching of the semiconductor switches (SW1-SW18), such that a duty ratio of the PWM signal is corrected within the switching period.
