Abstract: The present invention relates to a container, said container comprising at least two main inflatable portions, preferably having an elongated shape, detection means, one or more hydrostatic self-releasers, one or more gas providers, wherein the at least two main inflatable portions can take at least two positions: a non-active position, wherein the inflatable portions are deflated, and an active position, wherein the inflatable portions are inflated. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for rescuing an overboard falling container from sinking by detecting that a container is falling or has fallen overboard, activating hydrostatic self-releasers, activating gas providers, wherein said activations lead to inflatable portions, integrated in a container, to go from: a non-active position, wherein the inflatable portions are deflated in cavities of the container behind cover plates, to an: active position, wherein the inflatable portions are inflated.
