MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100761 A) filed by Christ University on August 20, 2026, for A Computer-Implemented System And Method For Computing Topological Indices Of Molecular And General Graphs.
Inventors include Anjusha Asok; Merlin Thomas; Riya Baby; and Amala Siby.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to computational graph theory and cheminformatics, and discloses a computer-implemented system, method, and non-transitory computer-readable medium for automated computation of topological indices from molecular graphs and non- molecular graphs. Graph data received as an adjacency matrix, adjacency list, edge list, vertex-adjacency information, or molecular bond representation is converted into a standardized internal graph representation independent of source encoding, validated for connectivity and structural consistency, and processed to determine vertex degrees, bond-related properties, adjacency and distance representations, shortest-path distances, and vertex eccentricities. A selectable and extensible computation framework then computes predefined or subsequently incorporated degree-based, distance-based, eccentricity-based, combined, and bond-sensitive indices, including indices dependent on bond multiplicity. The invention advances existing practice by unifying heterogeneous graph inputs, preserving bond attributes, preventing invalid computations through validation, and enabling dynamic incorporation of additional index formulae for molecular analysis and general graph analysis.
