MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088848 A) filed by Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun on July 21, 2026, for A Computer-Implemented System And Method For Automated Solar Farm Site Suitability Assessment, Feasibility Filtering, And Ranking.
Inventors include Simar Singh Rayat; and Vikrant Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to geospatial artificial intelligence for renewable energy planning, and particularly to a computer-implemented system and method for automated solar farm site suitability assessment, feasibility filtering, and ranking. A geospatial data ingestion module receives a region of interest with satellite imagery tiles, digital elevation model data, solar irradiance and climatic parameters, infrastructure layers, and land-use and restriction layers, which are preprocessed by geo- referencing, coordinate alignment, spatial resampling, normalization, and tiling into fixed geo-grids. A deep learning-based satellite image feature extraction module generates a deep embedding vector, and a domain or engineered geospatial feature extraction module computes an engineered feature vector for the same geo-grid. A feature fusion module combines the vectors for machine learning-based suitability scoring, while a constraint-aware feasibility filtering module excludes non-feasible tiles. Retained tiles are aggregated through an adjacency graph into candidate solar sites, scored, ranked, and output as GIS-compatible maps, polygons, coordinate lists, and explainability reports.
