MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105499 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 02, 2026, for A Computer-Based System For Accurate Localization And Characterization Of Renal Tumors.
Inventors include Rajagopal K; Dr. V. Sheeja Kumari; Vijayalakshmi R; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-based system designed for accurate localization and characterization of renal tumors using advanced medical image analysis and artificial intelligence techniques. The system processes medical imaging data obtained from modalities such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound imaging systems. The invention incorporates image preprocessing methods including noise filtering, normalization, and contrast enhancement to improve the quality of kidney images before analysis. The system employs artificial intelligence algorithms capable of extracting spatial, structural, and textural features from kidney images. A tumor localization module identifies suspicious regions within kidney structures and accurately determines the position and boundaries of tumor tissues. A characterization module analyzes tumor properties including shape, size, texture, and intensity patterns to determine tumor characteristics and malignancy probability.Thc system further integrates explainable artificial intelligence techniques to provide interpretable insights into the diagnostic results. Cloud-based integration allows secure storage, remote analysis, and collaborative diagnostics across healthcare institutions. Additionally, the system includes a self-learning mechanism that continuously improves model performance by incorporating new medical imaging data and clinical feedback. The invention enhances early detection of kidney tumors, improves diagnostic accuracy, and supports clinicians in making informed treatment decisions.1
