MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541050025 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on August 24, 2025, for A Compound And Method For Inhibiting Glioblastoma Cell Growth Through Dual Idh1 And Idh2 Inhibition.

Inventors include Vignesh Balaji E; and K. Sreedhara Ranganath Pai.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a compound (100) and a method for inhibiting glioblastoma cell growth. The compound (100) comprises a heterocyclic core unit (101A) and a carboxamide functional unit (101B) connected through a covalent linkage, wherein the structural configuration of the compound (100) enables simultaneous inhibition of mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 2 thereby suppressing D-2-hydroxyglutarate production and inhibiting glioblastoma cell growth. The compound (100) penetrates the blood-brain barrier following oral administration and reduces D-2-hydroxyglutarate concentration in plasma and brain tissue. The method comprises obtaining the compound (100), reacting with mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 2, blocking D-2-hydroxyglutarate production, reducing D-2-hydroxyglutarate in plasma and brain tissue, and inhibiting glioblastoma cell growth. The compound (100) exhibits anti-tumour activity comparable to existing dual isocitrate dehydrogenase inhibitors from a structurally independent scaffold class. FIG.2
