Abstract: A Composition and process of preparation of rubberized geo-material prepared from waste tires and artificial sand for engineering fill applications The present invention relates to a sustainable composition and process of rubberized geo-material prepared from waste tires and artificial sand to be utilized in filling in various engineering applications for instance, but not limited to civil engineering and pavement and road making. Experimentation and tests resulted in an optimum composition of 4.75mm rubberized chips (RC) sourced from waste tires, added at 30% by weight to a mixture of artificial sand (AS) and natural sand (NS) in a ratio of 50:50 (AS:NS) by weight. The composition improves the shear strength of natural sand by 20%, and finds application in geo-engineering fill in retainer walls of dams, underground structures or culverts. As compared to natural sand, the invention helps in lowering specific gravity by up to 30%, dry density by up to 25%, void ratio by up to 50%, and lateral earth factor by up to 25%, resulting in better enhancement of strength of civil construction elements.
