MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100544 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on August 18, 2026, for A Composition And Method For Reducing Microplastic And Nanoplastic Accumulation.
Inventor includes B Gyani Priyanka Patnaik.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: A nano-feed composition (100) for reducing gastrointestinal uptake and accumulation of microplastic and nanoplastic particles in animals is disclosed. The composition comprises herbal bioactives (101) including curcumin and emblicanin, plastic-binding agents (102) comprising pectin, chitosan, cyclodextrin derivatives, or combinations thereof, a nanotechnology-based carrier system (103) comprising a lipid-based nanoemulsion and biodegradable nanogel, gut microbiome modulators (104), and a feed-compatible matrix (105). The plastic-binding agents interact with and retain at least a portion of microplastic and nanoplastic particles within the gastrointestinal tract, thereby promoting fecal elimination. In selected embodiments, polymer-specific enzymes facilitate partial degradation or depolymerization of susceptible polymeric contaminants. The nanotechnology based carrier system provides controlled gastrointestinal delivery of active components and improves bioavailability of the herbal bioactives.
