Abstract: ABSTRACT A COMPOSITION AND A PROCESS FOR ORAL DELIVERY OF ARGEMONE MEXICANA PHYTOCONSTITUENTS The present invention relates to a nano-vesicular composition and method for delivering Argemone mexicana phytoconstituents via the oral route. The composition includes a standardized extract of Argemone mexicana incorporated in non-ionic surfactant vesicles that have been prepared by employing at least one non-ionic surfactant along with at least one membrane stabilizer. Hydrophilic phytoconstituents exist in the aqueous core of vesicles whereas the lipophilic phytoconstituents exist in the vesicular bilayer. The method includes extraction and standardization of the phytoconstituents, preparation of the vesicle-forming film, hydration with standardized phytoconstituents, molecular partitioning, reduction in particle size, stabilization of the formulation, characterization, and formulation of an oral dosage form. The nano-vesicular formulation exhibits enhanced physicochemical stability, protection from gastric damage, controlled release, colloidal stability, and reproducibility of the manufacturing process.
