Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of eco-friendly masonry units and their method of manufacture. The composite masonry unit comprises a binder system of 53 grade ordinary Portland cement (18), Class F fly ash (20) and shredded, dried recycled sanitary-napkin by-product (24) in a cementitious ratio of 13.5 : 45 : 1.5 or 12 : 45 : 3, combined with crushed sand aggregate (102), polycarboxylate-ether superplasticizer (98) and water (106) to achieve a water–cementitious ratio of 0.35–0.40. The wet blend is compacted under static pressure (20–30 MPa) with vibratory agitation (~50 Hz) and self-cured at ambient conditions. The resulting brick exhibits low thermal conductivity and a durable microstructure of C-S-H gel binding angular sand grains (82), spherical fly ash particles (84), polymer fragments (86) and cellulose fibers (88).
