The beam includes a top flange, a bottom flange, and a support plate (115) adapted to provide a bearing and support for the one or more hollow-core slab units. A plurality of stiffeners (120) arranged at a predefined interval to reinforce the support plate and to facilitate transfer of load from the one or more hollow-core slab units to the beam. A plurality of rebars (125) arranged in at least one of transverse and longitudinal direction to the one or more hollow-core slab units and the beam. A topping layer (130) disposed over the one or more hollow-core slab units and across the beam adapted to form a continuous structural surface, a welded wire mesh (135) embedded within the topping layer.
