Abstract: The present invention relates to a compostable, eco-friendly, and fully biodegradable disposable cup formed using natural plant-fiber composites. The cup comprises a multi-layer (tri-layer) . structure including an outer structural layer, an intermediate insulating layer, and an inner biodegradable sealing layer. The outer layer is formed from a composite of sugarcane bagasse and paper pulp bound with starch-based materials such as wheat flour and com starch to provide mechanical strength and shape retention. The intermediate layer comprises a starch-clay composite that enhances thermal insulation and improves handling comfort for hot beverages. The inner layer consists of a thin starch-based coating that acts as a liquid-contact surface, reducing moisture penetration while maintaining biodegradability. The cup is manufactured using low-temperature molding and controlled drying processes, enabling cost-effective and small-scale production. The invention provides an environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional plastic and polymercoated paper cups while maintaining functional performance for disposable beverage applications.
