Inventors include Dr. Nikhil Bansal; Dr. Anshul Sood; Dr. Anmoldeep Sandhu; and Dr. Medha Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a coaxial biopsy needle system (100) configured to enhance safety and stability during tissue sampling procedures. The system (100) includes a membrane (105) with an outmost edge (105a) secured within a plug (115) of a blunt cannula (120) through a grooved membrane attachment site (110). The membrane (105) incorporates an insertion port (105b) and functions as a non-punctured layer to prevent exchange of air and restrict blood from oozing out of the coaxial needle during insertion or withdrawal of a sharp needle (125). A three-way stopcock system (200) is connected via a flexible connecting tube (210) to the coaxial biopsy needle system (100), the three-way stopcock system (200) comprising a lever (205) configured to selectively control the flow of blood during aspiration, sampling, or in cases of haemorrhage. The system (100) provides improved complication management, enhanced operator confidence, and increased procedural reliability. Refer: Figure 1a.
