Abstract: ABSTRACT A CO-COMPOST COMPOSITION DERIVED FROM BIOSOLIDS AND HOUSEHOLD BIODEGRADABLE WASTE AND A METHOD FOR PREPARING The present invention relates to waste management and organic compost production, and more particularly to a co-compost composition derived from biosolids obtained from faecal sludge treatment plants and biodegradable organic waste, and a method for producing the same. Biosolids in the form of dried faecal sludge are mixed with segregated biodegradable organic waste in a predetermined ratio, preferably about 1:4 by weight, and arranged in layered windrow beds to facilitate aerobic composting. The composting process generates thermophilic conditions that promote decomposition of organic matter and reduction of pathogens present in the biosolids. The resulting co-compost composition comprises nutrient-rich organic matter containing carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and exhibits properties suitable for use as a soil conditioner. The invention provides an environmentally sustainable solution for reuse of biosolids and biodegradable waste while improving soil fertility and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers.
