Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence-enabled autonomous drone system and method employing a common hardware platform configurable for multiple mission-specific applications through dynamic software deployment. The system comprises a flight controller, onboard edge computing processor, sensor suite, communication module, cloud server, and user interface, wherein a user-selected mission triggers downloading of corresponding firmware, configuration parameters, and artificial intelligence models from the cloud to the onboard processor. The onboard processor performs real-time sensor fusion, object detection, tracking, navigation, and autonomous decision-making using data acquired from imaging, positioning, and environmental sensors, while communicating control commands to the flight controller for mission execution. The same drone hardware is selectively reconfigured to perform applications including vehicle and human detection, agricultural monitoring, infrastructure inspection, autonomous delivery, mapping, surveillance, and wildlife monitoring without hardware modification. The invention reduces latency through edge computing, minimizes hardware redundancy, enhances operational flexibility, and provides a scalable, cloud-enabled platform for intelligent autonomous aerial operations across diverse industrial and public service applications.
