MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641092737 A) filed by Aditya University on July 30, 2026, for A Circular Profiling Tool With Periphery-Based Guidance For Concentric Groove Formation And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. Thandlam Anil Kumar; and Marni Srinu.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a circular profiling tool (100) employing periphery-based guidance for producing concentric circular grooves (14) on circular workpieces (10), thereby enabling centre-independent circular profiling, reducing setup complexity, and improving concentric profiling accuracy by minimizing errors associated with centre-based profiling operations. The circular profiling tool (100) comprises a primary bar (102A), a secondary bar (102B), plurality of pins (108), a pair of locking members (110A, 110B), a slider (112), and a blade member (114). The plurality of pins (108) collectively conforms to the outer periphery of the workpiece (10) to guide movement of the circular profiling tool (100), while the slider (112) positions the blade member (114) at a selected offset to form the concentric circular groove (14). The circular profiling tool (100) improves profiling accuracy and repeatability during groove (14) formation.
