The receiving unit (108) is configured to detachably engage with one or more battery packs (110) and comprises one or more charging connectors (202), and a plurality of dampening members (502) configured to dampen insertion of the one or more battery packs (110) in the receiving unit (108). The one or more sensors (104) are configured to detect at least an engagement of the one or more battery packs (110) with the receiving unit (108). The control unit (102) is configured to initiate a charging operation of the one or more battery packs (110), based on at least the detected engagement.
