MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611070220 A) filed by Ims Engineering College, Ghaziabad on June 04, 2026, for A Catalytic Process And Integrated Reactor System For Conversion Of Organic Waste Into Biofuel.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a catalytic process and integrated reactor system for conversion of organic and carbonaceous waste into biofuel. The process includes pre-treating waste feedstock, introducing the prepared feedstock into a primary thermal conversion chamber, generating vapours under controlled oxygen-limited conditions, upgrading the vapours through a composite catalyst, condensing the upgraded vapours, and separating a usable liquid biofuel fraction. The composite catalyst comprises a porous aluminosilicate or zeolite component, carbonaceous support, alkaline-earth oxide component, transition metal oxide component, and binder for promoting cracking, deoxygenation, tar reduction, and hydrocarbon formation. The system includes feed preparation, controlled feeding, primary conversion, catalytic upgrading, particulate removal, staged condensation, fuel separation, gas recirculation, and char recovery units. Non-condensable gases may be recycled for process heating, and char may be recovered for useful applications. The invention improves waste utilisation, biofuel yield, catalyst reusability, and process efficiency while reducing environmental burden. Accompanied Drawing [FIGS. 1-2]
