MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441102713 A) filed by Ather Energy Limited on December 24, 2024, for A Braking System For An Electric Vehicle And A Method For Testing The Same.
Inventors include K, Suresh; Rangarajan, Narayan; and Shetty, Karthik Manjayya.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: A braking system (28) includes brake applying member (36) and actuator (38) coupled to brake applying member (36). The braking system (28) further includes braking unit (30) having at least one friction pad (44) configured to contact rotor (32) coupled to wheel axle (34), upon applying braking force via brake applying member (36). Furthermore, braking system (28) includes control unit (42) communicatively coupled to actuator (38) and electric motor (16). The control unit (42) is configured to drive actuator to actuate brake applying member (36) for applying braking force during designated mode of operation of electric vehicle (10). The control unit (42) is further configured to detect plurality of torque values of electric motor (16) upon applying braking force. Furthermore, control unit (42) is configured to determine burnished condition of at least one friction pad (44) and rotor (32) based on detected plurality of torque values of electric motor (16).
