MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411098852 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 13, 2024, for A Braking System For A Vehicle And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Shaman Raj Pajila; Chandra Kumar; Karthik Mohan; and Muthukumar Kochadai.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A brake system (100) for a vehicle (112) includes a speed sensor (102), an electro-magnetic braking system (108) and a friction braking system (110), and a control unit (106) operatively coupled with the electro-magnetic braking system (108) and the friction braking system (110). The control unit (106) is configured to: receive, from a brake pedal sensor, an indication of a requirement to reduce speed of the vehicle; obtain, from the speed sensor (102), speed of the vehicle (112); compare the speed of the vehicle (112) with a pre-defined speed value; and actuate one or both of the electro-magnetic braking system (108) and the friction braking system (110) based on the comparison of the speed with the pre-defined speed value. Activation of the friction braking system (110) is done when braking torque developed by the electro- magnetic braking system (108) is less than a computed value of required braking torque.
