Abstract: The present invention relates to a blockchain-backed IoT voting kiosk comprising an ESP32-S3 development board (1) as the embedded controller, an optical fingerprint sensor (2) connected via UART transmit line (7) and UART receive line (6) powered through 3.3-volt supply (4) and ground (5), and a TFT touchscreen display module (3) connected via SPI MOSI line (8), SPI clock line (9), chip select line (10), data/command control line (11), and reset control line (12). The optical fingerprint sensor (2) performs voter identity verification. Upon successful biometric authentication, the ESP32-S3 (1) enables the TFT touchscreen display module (3) for vote selection. The vote is encrypted and hardware-signed using the secure element (ATECC608A) and transmitted to blockchain gateway via HTTPS/mTLS for recording on Hyperledger Besu private blockchain. During network outages, ballots are stored in an SD card queue and synchronized upon restoration. Each voter receives a transaction hash as verifiable receipt code.
