MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511003318 A) filed by University Of Lucknow on January 15, 2025, for A Biopolymer-Based Nanogel Composite And Its Method Of Synthesis For Drug Delivery Applications.

Inventors include Sangeeta Kumari; Deepak Ram; and Mohammad Serajuddin.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biopolymer-based nanogel composite and its method of synthesis for drug delivery applications. The nanogel composite has antibacterial and antioxidant activities. The invention provides method of synthesis, of polyglutamic acid-pectin based nanogel. The chemical polymerization method was employed to synthesize copolymerized nanogel composites derived from the biopolymer ?-polyglutamic acid (?-PGA)-grafted pectin, incorporating silver metal. Pectin and ?-PGA are applied for the preparation of nanogels by using chemical modification techniques such as cross linking of the polymer that enhance the performance of the nanogel's properties The synthesized nanogel has an inhibition of free radical production by up to 83% in the antioxidant experiment.
