Abstract: ABSTRAT The present invention relates to a biometric-verified, line-selective electrical interlock system for enhancing safety during transmission-line maintenance operations. The system comprises a field-side authentication unit, a line-selection unit, a substationside interlock controller, an electrical-state verification unit, and a maintenance-session controller. The authentication unit verifies an authorized maintenance worker using fingerprint authentication and facial authentication with liveness verification. Upon successful authentication, the worker selects a transmission line requiring maintenance, and the selected line is electronically associated with its corresponding circuit breaker. The interlock controller initiates isolation of the corresponding breaker, while the electrical-state verification unit verifies a predetermined de-energized condition of the selected transmission line. A maintenance-session identifier establishes an electronic association between the authenticated worker, selected transmission line, corresponding breaker, and maintenance session. Re-energization is permitted only upon successful re-authentication of the initiating worker, confirmation of maintenance completion, and satisfaction of predetermined electrical and interlock conditions. The key technical novelty is the biometric- bound, line-specific closed-loop interlocking mechanism that prevents unauthorized or incorrect re-energization. The system further implements fail-safe operation and maintains records of maintenance and interlock events for traceability and accountability.
