MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541025340 A) filed by Besticides Minerals Private Limited on March 20, 2025, for A Biofertilizer Formulation Containing Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (psb) For Enhanced Nutrient Uptake And Plant Growth.

Inventor includes Duggineni Bhaskara Rao.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biofertilizer formulation (100) comprising at least one phosphate solubilizing bacterium (PSB) (101) with a viable cell count not less than 2 × 107 cfu/ml and a carrier medium (102) selected from peat, lignite, vermiculite, or aqueous gel. The PSB (101) secrete organic acids (103) that cause localized pH reduction in the rhizosphere, enabling solubilization of fixed phosphate compounds into plant-absorbable forms. The formulation (100) further facilitates micronutrient mobilization and sustained metabolite release and is stable across diverse environmental conditions. It is applicable through multiple agricultural interfaces, including seed treatment, root dipping, foliar spray, and soil broadcasting. The invention offers a biologically optimized alternative to chemical phosphate fertilizers, promoting improved nutrient uptake, plant growth, and soil health.
