Abstract: ABSTRACT A BIODEGRADABLE THREE-WAY DENTAL AIR-WATER SYRINGE SYSTEM AND A METHOD OF USING THE SAME The present invention relates to a biodegradable three-way dental air-water syringe system configured for detachable connection to a conventional dental chair syringe (30). The system comprises a tapered friction-lock connector (10), a rotary spray selector collar (11), an elongated body (12), and an angled distal nozzle (14). The elongated body (12) includes separate internal air and water channels (13, 15) that remain isolated until reaching a mixing chamber (16, 28) adjacent the distal nozzle (14), enabling selective discharge of compressed air, water, fine mist, or heavy spray. The rotary spray selector collar (11) allows the user to switch between delivery modes without disconnecting the syringe. The syringe is manufactured from a biodegradable polymer composition comprising polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), and optionally cellulose fibres with biodegradable additives, providing adequate mechanical strength for single-use dental procedures while biodegrading after disposal. The system reduces biomedical plastic waste while maintaining compatibility with conventional dental chair syringe systems.
