MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089503 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 22, 2026, for A Biodegradable Sublingual Tray Assembly Comprising Microreservoirs And Microchannels For Allergen Delivery.

Inventors include Dr. Sonia Dhiman; Dr. Shareen Singh; and Dr. Thakur Gurjeet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention a biodegradable sublingual tray assembly (100) is disclosed for controlled mucosal delivery of an allergen extract. The assembly includes a saliva-softening polymer tray body (200), isolated allergen microreservoirs (300), metering microchannels (400), a mucoadhesive contact side (500), saliva-access channels (600), and a swallowing barrier ridge (700). Reservoir isolation walls (1200) separate individual doses, while saliva-responsive metering membranes (1300) and capillary flow restrictors (1400) regulate hydration and discharge. A tongue-facing impermeable backing layer (1500) cooperates with mucosa-facing release windows (1600) to promote substantially unidirectional delivery toward sublingual mucosa. A dose-equalization manifold (1700) reduces inter-reservoir release variation, and a hydration-responsive timing strip (1900) operates with a completion indicator (800) to indicate completion of a predetermined residence period. A peripheral overflow capture channel (2000) limits lateral dispersion. The assembly is biodegradable, conformable, package-stable, and configured to provide metered release during a residence period of fifteen to thirty minutes without electronic or software control.
