The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a biodegradable ocular micro-implant (100) configured for sustained intraocular delivery of an anti-glaucoma active pharmaceutical ingredient (900). The micro-implant (100) comprises an implant body (200), a tunable polymer matrix (300), API-loaded micro-reservoirs (400), and microchannels (500) providing controlled aqueous-humor access. Each microchannel (500) includes an inlet restriction segment (1000) and communicates with a diffusion-balancing manifold (1100) so that substantially equal hydraulic path lengths are provided to the micro-reservoirs (400). Burst-suppression gate membranes (1300), inter-reservoir isolation webs (1500), and pH-buffering microdomains (1200) cooperate with a degradation-tuning outer coating (800) to reduce dose dumping, stabilise the active ingredient, and synchronise release with polymer erosion. The implant body (200) has an atraumatic insertion geometry (600), an anti-migration microtexture (1400), and an optional radiopaque marker (700). The architecture provides prolonged, approximately zero-order release followed by gradual bioresorption without surgical retrieval, while remaining suitable for intracameral, subconjunctival, punctal, or intracanalicular placement.
