Abstract: The present invention relates to a composite film composition (100) for wound dressing applications, comprising a starch matrix (101), reduced graphene oxide (103) dispersed within the starch matrix (101), and a plasticiser (105). The composite film composition (100) is configured to incorporate one or more bioactive agents (107) selected from antimicrobial agents, anti-inflammatory agents, growth factors, and antioxidants, without alteration of the structural or mechanical properties of the composite film composition (100). The present invention further relates to a method (200) of preparing the composite film composition (100), comprising dispersing the reduced graphene oxide (103) in an aqueous medium by sonication, dissolving starch in an aqueous medium, combining the reduced graphene oxide dispersion with the starch solution, adding the plasticiser (105) under continuous stirring, heating the casting solution to gelatinise the starch matrix (101), and casting and drying to obtain the composite film composition (100).
