MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641114205 A) filed by National Institute Of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship And Management Thanjavur Niftem-T on September 24, 2026, for A Bioconversion Process For Producing Probiotic Broth With Floating Nutrient Jelly For Companion Animal Feed.

Inventors include S. Vignesh; C. Sowmiya; N. Baskaran; S. Thirumoorthy; and D. V. Chidanand.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a bioconversion process for producing probiotic fermented broth with floating nutrient jelly for companion animal feed, utilizing animal-derived and plant-derived food processing by-products as fermentation substrates, performing controlled fermentation using Lactobacillus plantarum, and preparing a dual-phase feed product comprises a probiotic fermented broth phase and a floating nutrient jelly phase. The process comprises steps of preparing, heating, incorporating, inoculating, separating, and incorporating for producing probiotic broth with floating nutrient jelly for companion animal feed. The bioconversion process utilizes animal-derived and plant-derived food processing by-products as fermentation substrates for producing a value-added companion animal feed product with improved nutritional and functional characteristics. The bioconversion process that enables controlled fermentation of a substrate slurry using Lactobacillus plantarum to generate a probiotic fermented broth containing viable probiotic cells and fermentation-derived bioactive components.
