The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a biocompatible bio-composite for enhanced wound healing, prepared from finely powdered fish scales of Labeo rohita integrated with an aqueous extract of Azadirachta indica (neem) and Aloe vera gel. The fish scales are cleaned, dried and finely ground to provide a collagen-rich structural particulate matrix, which is dispersed in a buffered aqueous medium and homogenised with the neem extract and Aloe vera gel to form a uniform blend. The blend is cast or moulded and dried to obtain a film, paste or dressing sheet of thickness about 1 to 3 mm suitable for direct topical application. The process is free from demineralisation, synthetic polymers, cross-linking agents and toxic solvents, rendering the composite natural, safe, simple and economical to produce. The scale matrix supports cell adhesion and tissue regeneration and helps maintain a moist wound environment. The neem bioactives provide antimicrobial and antiinflammatory action, and the Aloe vera constituents promote re-epithelialisation and tissue repair. The invention thus converts underutilised fish scale waste into a multifunctional, chemical- free wound dressing for acute, chronic, surgical and burn wounds.
