The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: [0071] An invention Is disclosed relating to a seaweed-derived polymeric nanocomposite and its application as an anti-infective wound dressing material. The nanocomposite comprises green-synthesized metal and metal oxide nanoparticles integrated within a sodium alginate matrix extracted from marine seaweeds. The nanoparticles are synthesized using aqueous extracts of selected seaweed species, 10 enabling an eco-friendly and biocompatible process. The resulting nanocomposite is fabricated as a thin film exhibiting enhanced mechanical stability, porosity and controlled release properties. The invention demonstrates significant antimicrobial activity against wound pathogens, including bacteria and fungi, along with effective biofilm inhibition and eradication. Additionally, the nanocomposite exhibits 15 antioxidant properties and non-hemolytic behavior, indicating its safety for biomedical applications. The synergistic interaction between the polymer matrix and embedded nanoparticles improves therapeutic efficacy. The disclosed invention provides a sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient solution for advanced wound care and infection management.
