The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: A binder-free Ni-Mo-O electrode for alkaline water splitting and a method of preparing the same are disclosed. The electrode is formed by direct hydrothermal deposition of an Anderson-type NiMo6 polyoxometalate precursor having composition H28Mo6N2NiO30, also represented as (NH4)2[H8NiMo6O24].6H2O with anionic unit [H8NiMo6O24]2-, on nickel foam, followed by thermal treatment in air to convert the precursor into a precursor-derived Ni-Mo-O coating directly supported on the nickel foam. The precursor comprises a central NiO6 octahedron surrounded by six MoO6 octahedra linked through oxygen bridges, thereby providing a defined Ni-O-Mo framework prior to conversion. The resulting binder-free electrode is useful for hydrogen evolution reaction, oxygen evolution reaction, and overall water splitting in alkaline electrolyte.
