Abstract: The present invention relates to a batch-based active cell balancing system (100) and method for a series-connected battery pack comprising sensing units (101), an energy transfer circuit (102), and a controller (103). The controller (103) obtains state-of-charge and cell voltage values, identifies an Energy Source Cell (ESC) and an Energy Target Cell (ETC) using an Extremum-Driven Energy Routing (EDER) mechanism, and performs balancing in Controlled Energy Transfer Batches (CETBs) while retaining the identified cells for multiple energy transfer cycles. The controller further computes an energy transfer current using an Adaptive Energy Transfer Current Computation (AETCC) mechanism and executes energy transfer through a Three-State Energy Transfer Controller (TSETC) comprising an Energy Accumulation State, an Energy Release State, and a Transition Isolation State. Periodic re-evaluation after each batch improves balancing efficiency, reduces computational overhead and control complexity, and enhances energy utilization, scalability, operational reliability, and battery pack performance.
