Abstract: A barnacle cluster heavy sorting chute comprises an inclined main channel between an infeed end and a discharge end. Anti-clogging cluster-breaking ribs on the channel floor, oriented obliquely at 30°–60° to the direction of travel, dislodge bridging clusters. Downstream, cascaded gate stations (20a, 20b, 20c) each comprise a pivotable gate flap biased flush with the floor by an adjustable counterweight mass slidable along a counterweight arm and securable at threshold index slots by a locking pin. Each gate flap opens only when a resting cluster exceeds a field-adjustable trip-weight threshold, diverting it through a side discharge outlet into a collection bin of corresponding weight grade. Trip-weight thresholds increase progressively along the chute (W1 W2 W3), producing multi-tier weight grading in one gravity-fed pass, without motorised vibration, electrical actuation, or tool-based recalibration.
