MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611091726 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on July 29, 2026, for A Bandage For Colorimetric Wound Infection Indication And Herbal Wound Healing.

Abstract: The invention relates to wound care dressings, and more particularly to a five-layer bandage comprising an outer protective layer, an indicator strip layer, a herbal healing layer, a cotton absorbent layer, and an adhesive support layer arranged in a single dressing assembly. The indicator strip layer includes a filter paper strip impregnated with red cabbage extract containing anthocyanins and turmeric extract containing curcumin, positioned to receive wound exudate or wound-related moisture and provide visible pH-responsive colour change, thereby indicating transition from healthy acidic wound conditions to infection-associated alkaline conditions. The herbal healing layer comprises neem extract, aloe vera gel, honey, and turmeric to support wound healing while monitoring occurs. The bandage provides technical advancement by integrating natural colorimetric infection indication with herbal therapeutic action in one low-cost.
