Abstract: The present invention relates to a beverage composition (100) comprising a banana peduncle extract (101) forming a base liquid medium, an edible seed component (103), and a sweetener component (105) present in an amount constituting a balance of the beverage composition (100). The banana peduncle extract (101) carries native constituents that interact with one or more bioactive compounds of the edible seed component (103), whereby the sbeverage composition (100) exhibits an antioxidant activity attributable to a combined presence of the banana peduncle extract (101) and the edible seed component (103). The present invention further relates to a method (200) of preparing the beverage composition (100), involving washing and grinding a banana peduncle, filtering the ground banana peduncle to obtain the banana peduncle extract (101), providing the edible seed component (103) and the sweetener component (105), and combining the same to obtain the beverage composition (100).
