MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631114237 A) filed by Assam Down Town University on September 24, 2026, for A Bamboo Fibre Reinforced Concrete Composite And A Process For Preparation Thereof.
Inventor includes Dr. Pranamee Baruah.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT A BAMBOO FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE COMPOSITE AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARATION THEREOF The present invention relates to a bamboo fibre reinforced concrete composite and a process for preparation thereof for sustainable construction applications. The composite comprises an M20 grade concrete matrix reinforced with processed bamboo provided in stick, strip or powder form. The bamboo is subjected to cutting, chemical treatment and drying before incorporation into the concrete to provide controlled reinforcement and reduce moisture-related limitations. The processed bamboo is incorporated at predetermined concentrations of 0.75%, 1% or 1.75%, followed by mixing, casting and curing. Experimental evaluation demonstrated that bamboo form and concentration influenced the resulting compressive strength. In particular, bamboo strips incorporated at 1% produced a 7-day compressive strength of 12.34 N/mm² compared with 12.30 N/mm² for normal M20 concrete under the reported test conditions. The invention provides a standardized, renewable and cost-effective approach for incorporating locally available bamboo into concrete for suitable sustainable construction applications.
