Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure provides a method for reducing fruit drop in mango trees, comprising applying forchlorfenuron-based composition at a concentration of 0.0002%-0.0004% to mango trees during a full bloom flowering stage to prevent flower dropping and applying forchlorfenuron-based composition at a concentration of 0.0002%-0.0004% to the mango trees during a fruit developing stage to prevent fruit dropping, wherein the forchlorfenuron-based composition strengthens abscission zones near peduncles of flowers and fruits to increase fruit retention. The forchlorfenuron-based composition may be applied by spraying at a peanut stage and a marble stage of fruit development. The forchlorfenuron-based composition stimulates protein synthesis, DNA synthesis, and RNA synthesis in the mango trees, wherein the stimulation results in strengthened abscission zones and improved fruit firmness. The method increases overall fruit yield and size compared to untreated mango trees by preventing the formation of abscission zones near the peduncles of flowers and fruits.
