MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517090945 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Sept. 23, for 'zn-al-mg-si-based plated steel sheet.'
Inventor(s) include Fujii Norifumi; Sato Rinta; and Makimizu Yoichi.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a Zn-Al-Mg-Si-based plated steel sheet that exhibits excellent chemical conversion treatment properties, suppression of downward bulging of a coating film, and corrosion resistance at a boundary between members of different types. A Zn-Al-Mg-Si-based plated steel sheet according to the present invention is characterized by having a foundation steel sheet and a plating layer formed on at least one surface of the foundation steel sheet, and is characterized in that: the plating layer has a composition containing, in mass%, 0.50-3.00% of Mg, 0.10-3.00% of Al, 0.010-0.20% of Si, and 0.30% or less of Fe, the remaining portion being Zn and unavoidable impurities, and has a Zn-Al-MgZn2 three-component eutectic structure; and, on the three-component eutectic structure, a needle-shaped Mg2Si alloy phase exists at a number density of less than 100000 pieces/mm2 in a backscattered electron image acquired by a scanning electron microscope at a magnification of 5000 times at an acceleration voltage of 7.0 kV, and, at an acceleration voltage of 15.0 kV with the same condition, the needle-shaped Mg2Si alloy phase exists at a number density of 500 pieces/mm2 or more and a needle-shaped SiO2 oxide phase exists at a number density of 100000 pieces/mm2 or more."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 05, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/008337.
