MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517090928 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Sept. 23, for 'zn-al-mg-si-based plated steel sheet.'

Inventor(s) include Fujii Norifumi; Sato Rinta; and Makimizu Yoichi.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a Zn-Al-Mg-Si-based plated steel sheet which has excellent appearance corrosion resistance and excellent heterojoint-portion corrosion resistance in a portion in which a flat portion and a processed portion contact an aluminum alloy. This Zn-Al-Mg-Si-based plated steel sheet comprises a base steel sheet and a plating layer formed on at least one surface of the base steel sheet, and is characterized in that the plating layer has a composition containing, in terms of mass%, 0.50-3.00% Mg, 0.10-3.00% Al, 0.010-0.20% Si, and up to 0.30% Fe, the remainder comprising Zn and unavoidable impurities, and has a Zn-Al-MgZn2 ternary eutectic structure, and that, in a backscattered electron image with a magnification of 5,000 times obtained by irradiating the surface of the plating layer with an electron beam at an acceleration voltage of 7.0 kV using a scanning electron microscope, acicular Mg2Si-alloy-phase grains having a major-axis dimension of 0.5 m or greater are present on the Zn-Al-MgZn2 ternary eutectic structure at a number density of 100,000 grains/mm2 or higher."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 05, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/008333.
