MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641008354 A) filed by Dr. A. Yasmin, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 28, for 'zero-overflow bio-monitoring smart bin system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. A. Yasmin; Mr. G. Gowrisanker; S. Niveditha; S. Manipriya; R. Prakathi; S Pooja Sri; K. J. Dharshana; R. Abisha; G. Shivani; and E. Dhakshinya.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Zero-Overflow Bio-Monitoring Smart Bin System Abstract This invention discloses an intelligent waste collection system comprising a bin housing equipped with a plurality of sensors, a processing unit, and a communication module. The system utilizes ultrasonic sensors to monitor fill levels and gas sensors to detect hazardous emissions or decomposition odors. An integrated compaction mechanism, driven by the processing unit, is activated upon reaching a predetermined volume threshold to maximize storage capacity. The communication module transmits real-time data to a centralized cloud platform via a wireless network, enabling automated route optimization for collection vehicles. Furthermore, the bin may include a solar-power harvesting unit for autonomous operation and a user-interface for incentivized waste disposal via RFID or biometric authentication. The system effectively reduces operational costs, minimizes carbon footprints, and prevents overflow in urban environments."
