MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073973 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'worm screw repairing assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Bhawna; Rachna Manchanda; Dr. Ashima; Gaurav; Arun Yadav; and Kavish.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A worm screw repairing assistive device, comprising a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface with plurality of supporting legs 2 for supporting platform 1 on surface, a holding slot 3 that is accessed by a user for accommodating a worm screw which is to be repaired, an imaging unit 4 in sync with an IR (Infra-red) sensor to determine cracks and deformities on worm screw, a pair of water reservoirs 5 arranged on sides of the slot 3 with multiple electronically controlled nozzles 6 to dispense pressurized water on worm screw, a telescopically operated L-shaped rod 7 with a motorized rotatable brush 8 to perform scrubbing on the worm screw, plurality of welding torches 9 for mending the repairs and a grinding blade 11 by means of a telescopically operated L-shaped bar 12 for grinding extruded part on the welded portion in order to smoothen out the repair."
