MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022381 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 22, 2024, for 'wood-cutting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Ruchi Aggarwal.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A wood-cutting assistive device, comprising an elongated frame 1 with the first end positioned on a ground surface near the tree to be cut, a computing unit enables the user to give inputs regarding supporting the tree, an imaging unit 2 captures images of the tree to determine exact location of the tree, a laser projection unit 3 projects laser beam to guide user to position frame 1 at suitable distance from tree, a hydraulic rod 4 extends to position rod in contact with ground surface for providing support, a V-shaped member 5 inserted on ground surface partially to prevent slippage of the rod, a C-shaped motorized expandable clamp 8 grips bark of tree by expanding, an ultrasonic sensor detects diameter of bark, a DC (Direct Current) electric motor rotates the bar for pushing tree."
